Natural fabrics such as cotton, are comfortable and breathable. But, they tend to shrink and wrinkle, often requiring ironing. While natural fabric is not easy care, synthetic fabric such as polyester, was created for easy care. They are often permanent-press and do not require ironing. But there is a trade-off. In order to develop shrink and wrinkle-resistance, the fabrics are treated with harmful chemicals, including formaldehyde. Many of our garments are made of 100% cotton, and pre-shrunk. Some of our garments are made of high performance, innovative polyester-blend - which is easy care, comfortable and elegant - without the chemicals. They were manufactured following Oeko-tex standards. The only non-Oeko-tex fabrics that we used were for performance waterproof garments. We hope to find an Oeko-tex source of waterproof fabric in the future.
Laundry Care vs. Dry Cleaning
Wool, a natural fabric, often requires additional care - and are labeled as dry-clean only. Dangerous chemicals - which are toxic and carcinogenic - are found in conventional Dry Cleaning Solutions.
All our garments can be washed by you, without the need for dry cleaning. This minimizes toxic exposure to you and your pet, and to the environment. We suggest using a safe, phosphate-free detergent and cold water, and not to use fabric softener - because of the toxins in softeners, and because our garments do not require it.
